Initially, I wanted to just rush to the store where I pre-ordered my console, pick it up and go straight home so I can install and set it up for utilization. But I figured, this day is just too good to spend alone so I thought might as well ask Scout if I could just tag along and watch him get his instead. Like I mentioned earlier, I was excited but I knew this was even a bigger day for him. Luckily, he was fine with me tagging along for the day and I did my best to make it there in time so we can go ahead and pick up the console.
I was quite surprised that there wasn't much of a line up in the front of the store where he ordered his hardware. I was expecting like a long line up with at least 20 people. My guess is the stores didn't really provide the consumers with a lot in terms of pre-order quantities. And I seriously doubt anyone would be willing to fall in line for something they might not even get if they didn't pre-order the hardware.
WiiU Release Day w/ Scout, Soulja and Mariel [Unboxing and Random Moments]
The video above contains some of the moments that took place that day. Unfortunately, I was not able to record most of them, but I did my best to pull my phone out whenever I thought it was a good time to record. Watching my recordings like this makes me realize that I have this really silly accent that makes me sound so much like a girly bastard. But it doesn't matter, what matters is that I was able to capture some of the moments and I'm glad I came and did just that.
(My Nintendo WiiU console w/ 2 games!)
The hardware itself looks really sleek and just like the Nintendo Wii, very slim and compact. Compared to its counterparts: XBoX and the PS3, at least. Performance-wise, I am yet to see it's full potential when it comes to processing power and graphics. But I don't really expect much from WiiU when it comes to these aspects. We all know that Nintendo always makes up for everything with fun gameplay, its exclusives and their ways of being pioneers when it comes to innovation. And you gotta hand Nintendo that. Hands down.
I think the only thing that I really can't like with this console is the GamePad. But the thing is, that's only because I am not used to it just yet. A Playstation gamer like me finds it a tad bit difficult to adapt to the Nintendo layout. But for sure, it's only a matter of time before you just completely get used to it and everything shall be way better.
The thing that I really love the most is the... well, GamePad. Yes, I love it and I hate it. I like the fact that you have a touch screen and it provides some really nifty and cool features that the other consoles just can't offer. I don't even watch Netflix on my PS3 anymore since the WiiU can give me a better watching experience in terms of both interface and user friendly/faster browsing. It's superb, I gotta tell ya. And just that makes me feel like it was worth the cash I spent.

(New desk layout with the WiiU integrated to it. Waiting for XBoX!)
I didn't actually setup my Nintendo WiiU console until around night time after I parted ways with Soulja, Scout and Mariel. It was nice of Soulja to offer to bring me home since he thought it wouldn't be a good idea to let me walk around with 480 dollars worth of merchandise. I understand where he was coming from and I truly appreciate it. It goes to show that he does think and not just act. And he cares without having to say he does. And we gotta give it to him for that.
I am yet to encounter any problems with the console. And given that the PS3 release of Call of Duty: Black Ops II was a mess, it makes me feel so good to make a purchase like this, and not be bothered nor annoyed by technical issues. Nintendo may not be the best console maker out there, but they know how to please their fans and how to make products that will always entertain. I can't wait for a handful of games already! The Monster Hunter game that Scout wants me to try, I want the Mario Kart and Pokemon games to be released as well! I plan on mainly playing exclusives on this console though. I remain faithful to my Playstation 3 for my online gaming and its exclusives. And some of its exclusives are even going multiplatform due to their success.
The Nintendo WiiU is a good purchase. No doubt about it.
